Larkspur Residence

Open-plan living room with timber wall panelling and a glazed garden wall

A family home on a wooded hillside, designed around a single idea: that every room should open to the garden and the oaks beyond. The house steps down the slope in three timber-framed volumes, linked by a glazed spine that brings morning light deep into the plan.

Inside, warm timber panelling, polished concrete and full-height glazing keep the palette calm and tactile. Our interiors and structural teams worked as one, so the walnut-lined wall that anchors the living room also conceals the bracing that lets the garden facade open without a single column.

They treated our home with the same rigour as a museum. Every detail considered, nothing left to chance.Grace Whitfield, private client

Designed for the climate

Deep roof overhangs shade the glazing through the summer, while operable clerestories pull cool air through the house each evening. Rooftop solar and a heat-pump system make the home net-zero in operation, and rainwater harvested from the roofs feeds the garden through the dry months.
