Elena Márquez

Elena founded STRATA in 2004 with a single idea: that architects and engineers should never work in separate rooms. Three decades and more than a hundred completed buildings later, that conviction still shapes every project the studio takes on.

She leads our cultural and civic work, where she is known for buildings that carry real structural ambition without ever losing their warmth. Her projects have earned recognition across Europe, but she still spends most of her week at a drawing board, alongside the teams she mentors.

Before STRATA, Elena led the concept studio at a large international practice, where she grew frustrated watching good ideas get value-engineered away. STRATA was her answer — a studio small enough to protect an idea, and technical enough to build it.
